Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
Writing a Broadside

In the days before television and radio afforded instant media coverage, town criers and broadsides, in addition to newspapers, were used to broadcast the news. Read the broadside below that was sold on the streets of the nation’s cities a few days after Constitution’s victory over Java. Write your own broadside from what you know about the battle. On the other side of this sheet, make a list of what you remember from the lesson and work the details into your broadside.
